UK Air Source Heat Pumps Have a Record Year for Domestic Installations

The latest domestic renewable heat update shows another record quarter for air source heat pumps. Coming after a second quarter performance that was also a record high, this completes the best 12 months for air source heat pumps since the launch of the scheme.

The year from October 2018 to September 2019 saw 8,192 new air source heat pump installation, a 57% increase over the previous 12 month period.

This increase in air source installation numbers is underpinning a 48% increase, year on year, in domestic RHI applications.

Domestic RHI Installations Sep 2019

Biomass installations had a fast start under the domestic RHI but air source took over as the most popular technology in early 2015. At this stage, air source heat pumps account for 60% of new domestic RHI installations.
